Lesson 4 You can't win if you don't play

Sitting on the sidelines waiting for something to happen is always a losing propostion. In poker only playing ones cards is the surest way to lose against good players. In poker, not knowing what your table image is and being able to adjust your game appropriately is one way to get skinned alive. In life this is called drifting, in a negotiation its called leaving money on the table. In each situation, money and opportunites are lost.

Lesson 3 When in doubt fold.

There are situations in life where you just don't know where you stand. If you have a plan to get somewhere and you think you are off the plan, the right thing to do is quit, change directions and get back on plan.

Lesson 2 You can't beat a bad player hitting cards

In poker somtimes, no matter how good you play, you can't beat the deck.

In life, there are times when you find yourself in situations where you see someone excel in spite of their abilites or merit. As much as you might be tempted to try to capitalize to your benefit, it's often best to let that other person have their day and wait for the situation to change.

Lesson 1 Aggression helps

In no limit holdem, being an aggressive bettor is better than not betting enough. Weak bets get calls and prices people into chasing cards relative to the odds making it profitable for people to draw. Even when you are drawing if you bet aggressively, you will win more often than not against better players.

In life not being aggressive will cost you opportunites, this is especially true in sales. people expect salesperople to be aggressive and when they are not they lose the sale.
